Tennessee Governor Bill Lee has signed an executive order aimed at enhancing background checks and urged the state Legislature to approve red flag laws,

The executive order aims to ensure the secure legal acquisition of weapons in Tennessee.

The Governor also stated that it was necessary to pass legislation to correct the weaknesses in current gun laws.

The lawmakers believe that new, stronger order protection laws will offer greater coverage for the entire

population and protection from those who are at risk either to themselves or to the general population.

However, it remains unclear whether the Tennessee Legislature, where Republicans have a majority, will be able to pass such legislation during the current session.

The governor's remarks come amid increased tensions in Tennessee following the expulsion of two Black Democrats who participated in a demonstration against gun violence in the chamber.
